What do you use for larger maps?
I actually own Maptech mapping. I print out 8x11's at 25k and a 8x11 100k overview

Gary,
(and Joe)
I have National Geographic's edition of all of the USGS
topo maps for the northeast. New England and New York.
I bought them at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) in West
Lebanon, NH. I presume you can get them at any EMS store
or directly on the web. Cost was about $100. Far cheaper
than buying the paper and very reproducible. I needed
USGS for state permit work as the state insists that
location maps be on USGS base.
You can print out any size you want. Scale is normally
1" = 2000' (same as USGS 7.5 minute series) but you can
get a readable copy at 1" = 1000'. The maps are bitmaps
and are the actual USGS topos stitched together pretty
seamlessly.
You can enter GPS waypoints and tracks to create route
maps. Neat system.
Printout is only limited by the size your printer can
handle.
