Thank you. Then I trust this will be our last encounter on Usenet and

No hard feelings I'm sure.

Hmm, smileys and "no hard feelings" That's not what you emailed me
privately is it? Do you not see the hypocrisy in your post? Cool
down, look in the mirror and let's drop this thread as a complete
misunderstanding OK? If you say OK then we may be able to better share
experiences...

Cheers

Actually, if you will notice, it seems to be YOU who keeps up this
posting. I can of course opt out at any time, but what's happening
interests me if little else.

It was YOU who began the exchange with me in this thread, not the other
way around. You injected yourself to lecture me on Usenet protocol with
one of the most sophomoric condescending posts I've seen in a long time
here on this forum.

I'm simply answering each one of your posts....and yes, I tried setting
you straight with a back channel email, and you can be sure it contained
no smilies :-))

I've tried every which way I know to tell you I simply don't like you.
It won't bother me a bit if you simply quit posting under me as you seem
constantly wanting to do....and each post telling me what I should be
doing and how you think I should be doing it.
When I said no hard feelings, I simply meant I hold you no malice. I
simply want to get rid of you.

It would seem to me that having so little respect for my Usenet
abilities you would find it quite easy as my intellectual superior :-)
to seek to avoid me on this forum, but that's not your game now is it?
You like this little exchange of wits you have going. I can't think of
any other reason why you keep posting to an old dummy like me.
No. I had you pegged way back in the 172 landing thread when I attempted
to explain to you that watching an airspeed indicator during flare and
landing might not be the best way to explain things to a student pilot.
You answered this by starting your post with;
"Well Dudley........
Might be me, but I don't particularly like it when I take the time to
help people with correct answers who then answer me with "Well
Dudley......" :-)))
The people I respond to respectfully when they disagree with me on
something or would like to expand or explain something that counters
something I have said answer me with "May I offer a different
opinion.....or May I explain a bit differently what I meant.....or even
You idiot, I totally disagree with you......but don't EVER begin a post
to me with "Well Dudley........" :-))
I suggest that you back off your condescending attitude a bit; forget
the bull*** about envisioning me as an "elder statesman"; then forget
the crap about giving me a lesson on how to deal with trolls; and then
come on back in and perhaps we'll take another shot at things.
Your call...
DH

I see the problem I think, we speak differently. "Well Dudley" in my
lusage (which may be more classical English) implies a measured
accknowlegement of your point but also that your answer does not
address the issue I see (which was that a 172 is not stalled in the
flare but on wheel touchdown -an idea I have not rejected. The
airspeed watching was an idea to simply to show that stall speed is
not seen in the flair and you did not seem to get my point but
interpreted as a recommendation for all approaches. Of course airspeed
watching is the only thing that an automatic system can do and it
works for that but I agree for humans that may not be the best
approach at all!). Anyway, I fully accept your offer to move on
although I assure you that your measure of me is quite wrong and I may
be a likeable fellow if you get to know me better. Lastly this no
attempt to post under you but a response to your calling me -and (1) I
apologise for complimenting you in a way that you interpreted as
condescending (2) I also apologise for the temerity to offer you any
advice on feeding trolls and (3) I did not intend disrespect to you
for your internet skills (offering only my view about your post
looking like troll fodder). Having apologised yet again for this
misunderstanding I hope you may see that I am not what you think I am.
I am deeply concerned that our exchange could have run so far off the
tracks I intended but a part must surely be my accent! In future I
will try to address you as you request but I will probably draw the
line at calling you an idiot (I'll your farm you would flame me for
that!).

Yes, I look forward to your critique and advice about my flying -I
look forward to learning much and I hope I will be able to do advanced
aerobatics before I have to hang up the headphones for the last time.

Cheers
