You have to stay grounded until your treating physician says
that you have fully recovered from the surgery and there is
any question about whether you might have some condition
that would cause a problem while piloting, such as trapped
gas or mobility. At your next FAA medical you must report
the surgery and should have a report from the surgeon
detailing the condition, treatment and results. Copies of
the lab work showing that it was benign will speed up the
issuance of the new medical.
If you have any questions about the details for your
condition, call the AOPA medical department [you are a
member].
