Shucks, Jay, consider yourself lucky. When my machine freezes, the
only way out is to turn it off, turn it on again, waiting for Scandisk
to come on and then hit Enter (because Scandisk just runs in an
infinite loop), and then wait for it to boot up.
What can one say? It's from Microsoft; it sucks. We put up with it
because we like the programs that run on Windows. (Mine happens to be
ME. I knew before I ordered it that it would be awful; what could a
program called ME be except awful? Over on the laptop I have XP, which
is steadier. In fact, it's never crashed, perhaps because I use it so
seldom, since one of my favorite programs doesn't work very well on
it, being DOS based.)
