Scott,
A forum member has asked me about a possible Lockheed black project a/
c that was in an early 1990s video.
Here is his story:
The complete description is this - In January 1990 the USAF was
showing on tv a 60-sec public service ad for recruitment purposes. I
found out through Air Force sources that the title of the video was
"Blackbird" It was produced by an ad agency in or near Dallas Fort
Worth Texas. I only view the video only a few times in early 1990. But
they - the ad agency - sent to me two color stills from the video.
But, foolishly, I sent those two images via snail-mail to David Baker
PhD. over in the UK for possible publishing - never heard from that
guy again - and he has never returned my images. I should have made
copies of them - one of them was a print of a CFD test completed on
that particular shape, the other image was as I have described to you
previously. See if your source can locate the video. Maybe some stills
can be grabbed from it.
Blazing Eagle
In the video, he describes the SR-71 being followed by a CG a/c
described as roughly the same size as the Blackbird, with a conical
shape nose, engines over the wings, compound wing, single verticle
tail, and aerospike engines.
Since this was 1990, the only Lockheed a/c that I could find for him
that was even close would logically be their Mach 5 design- but he
says that is not it. I then gave him every stealth a/c of the period
up to modern, but most are wedge-shaped, flying wing, or black
triangle... with twin tails and no aerospike engines.
He claims it was a Lockheed TAV, but I do not recall anything about
TAVs from that timeframe. Everything back in 1990 was the Aurora and
the TR-3a Black Manta plus everything Testors was putting out on
stealth.
Do you have any idea what he is talking about?
I do not specialize in Blackcraft but know a wide-range of them. A TAV
in 1990 on a video sounds wrong. Perhaps a hypersonic replacement...
Any help appreciated,
Rob
