Not jet engines. These were not intended for America then.
Local Europe? Or is their range phenomenal?
Both are fictional as the Germans never came close to an atomic weapon.
Those are just drawings - the modern ones-and-zeroes version of a bar
napkin. If the Nazis had an A-bomb, they would have used it. Current
accepted history is the Germans were still at the theoretical stage of
nuclear weapon development and so far I have seen no definitive proof
that any German aircraft were designed, built, or modified to deliver
any nuclear payload. You could pack the nose of an A-9 with
yellowcake I suppose - make a decent dirty bomb - but to radically
alter the fuselage structure of an aircraft the size of the 8-290 or
the 177V38 to fit the dimensions and loading requirements of an
unbuilt, untested and generally accepted as mythical nuke would be
ludicrous. The British evaluated V38 and I don't recall reading
anything in the post-mortem to suggest its wing spars had been moved
out of the way of the supposedly greatly enlarged and nuclear-capable
bombbay.
Gordon,
While I respect what you have to say, here are some things that you
left out that are factual for 1945:
- the Amerika Bomber program was restarted by Goering in Feb 1945
- the submissions I made with the Ju-290, especially the modified
Schwerebomber E-model is valid as one of those a/c along with the
Sanger, Ho XVIII, EMW craft, etc...
- Heinkel built TWO atomic bomb mods- the V38 and another one found in
May 1945 undergoing modifications (pic on the other thread)
- the Nazis did not have one official atomic bomb program, but two-
the SS was in charge of all secret weapons in 1945 and they had their
own concepts which included the radiologicals, the cluster rocket
(V-6) delivery system (adopted by the USSR postwar), and another
deadly weapon- the Firedamp Bomb with added reagent. SS moved their
work underground and Jonastal SIII was to be the production facility
- the Luftwaffe had a complete map of NYC and the target was Manhatten
for a SINGLE bomb with the Amerika Bomber program... so if no atom
bomb, then WHAT?
- both the cluster rocket and a small type of superbomb were tested
in March 1945 and have eye-witnesses. Several witnessed the mysterious
rocket one third larger than a V-2 launched with a circle of cluster
rockets at its base and the SS lost over 400 men in the superbomb
explosion that had a brilliant flash and then loss of both slave
laborers as well as SS men that were thought to be beyond the range of
the weapon. This is the debated German mini-nuke but with the
observance of a vast lightning storm at ground level afterwards is
most certainly the Firedamp weapon as no radiation was detected at the
Thuringia site.
- also included and under construction for launching of V-2s at sea
against America with a SINGLE warhead was the Prufstand XII project at
Stettin with one container completed and two others 65% completed.
Again, these were NOT to house a conventional V-2. Conventional Amatol
warheads of one ton would do nothing to NYC.
- Goering at his interrogation and trial claimed that he personally
prevented Hitler from obtaining a Molecular Bomb which is documented.
Was he talking A-bomb or H-bomb? The Nazis already found their mistake
by early 1945 and were wroking on making corrections but ran out of
time, which leads to this:
- Germany shipped uranium to Japan via U-boat for their Konan facility
that WAS building two bombs. It was thought that if Germany lost Japan
could use the bombs against the US and possibly force a withdrawl of
Allied troops out of Germany.
- Germans also had knowledge of atomic-powered aircraft, atomic-
powered U-boats, atomic powerplants for energy, etc...
