Gordon,
Both you and I know there was NO Anti-Armor Ground Attack version of
the Me-262 despite attempts at making it a fast bomber failure
(Sturmvogel) and the ridiculaous 50mm BK installations in the nose
(against bombers, not tanks). Me-262s had a bad enough time trying to
line up a shot of 4x 30mm MK-108s and/or R4M rockets, lead on in, and
then fire in time to pull away. This barely worked on a/c and no way
on enemy Soviet tanks who needed a Tiger I or II with 88mm high-
velocity guns to take them out. Four puny 30mms would not stop one and
if you can prove otherwise with the Me-262- do so.
The top armour on a tank is a lot thinner than the frontal armour. The
slabs that cover the power park were a known weakness which
were targeted with 20mm and 30mm cannon
In extremis Luftwaffe aircraft made strafing runs on advancing armour
just as allied fighters did against the Wehrmacht. If nothing else
it discouraged accompanying infantry and tanks without
infantry support are vulnerable to hand held antitank weapons.
