As Robbie as noted I am not so knowledgeable on aircraft, but that one
looks like a B-17, and what is the other one with the thing-a-ma-bob
on the front of it that isn't a prop?http://www.2worldwar2.com/images/mistel.jpg

Did this Bomber Wing group stand out above any others for greater
accomplishments in battle?

Yes, KG 200 operated several captured Allied heavy bombers, including
a few B-17s.

Mark, you can type "KG 200" into Google, can't you? ?That is a
standard Mistel with a used-up Bf 109 mounted above a beheaded Ju 88
(cockpit replaced with a very large shaped charge warhead).

Gordon

Correction, KG-200 operated many "Do-200s" and Mistels varied ;)

Some people just can't get the history straight...

Rob

A B-17 is a B-17 regardless of what the Germans called it.- Hide quoted text -

No, IN GERMAN SERVICE it was the Dornier Do-200. A DC-3 similarly used
by KG-200 was designated Si-203. There was NO Siebel 203. Espenlaub
Flugzeugbau repaired the DC-3 and then KG-200 used it to transport
Nazi officials out of the Reich. Siebel Si-203 was its cover. That RLM
number had already been issuded to DFS as DFS-203 (a twin DFS-230
transport project).

Rob, I can't agree with you on this - why would it matter what the
Germans called it, if it was a B-17? We called Japanese A6M's
"Zeroes" and "Zekes" but does it make them anything other than A6Ms?

If you don't know what your are talking about, please stay out of
these conversations- but what should I expect from a guy who thinks
the Me-262 was a strafer on the EF ;)

Macky Steinhof reported that his last several missions in the Me 262
were all anti-armor strafing missions. He didn't like it and claimed
to have done minimal damage with it. He was on this time of mission
when he crashed on takeoff.
