An though we might blame the pilot/s we can ask:
1 Was he given enough simulator training.
2 Were the airlines paying enough to get 'quality' pilots not 'cheap'
pilots.
3 Is there enough income in this 'recesional' industry to allow a crew
to have a healthy, well rested and professionally focused work life.
I heard that the co-pilot earned $16,000 a year. That sounds
ridiculously low for a pilot, or any other job for that matter.
I understand that it's a 'stepping stone' kind of a job... but $8.50
an hour for goodness' sake?
How can they expect quality talent for less pay than McDonaldf???
Ben
That's why I gave up on flying airplanes. I kept sacrificing and
sacrificing and the last straw was the rapidly spreading practice of
paying a potential employer for your training costs to be qualified for
the job. You might be trying for a $20k per year job and considering
paying $10-15k for training costs and successful completion of training
didn't guarantee a job.
It's one thing to be hired as a Learjet or MU-2 co-pilot and spend most of
your time washing the boss's car, being an errand boy, and reading the
manual all day for an occassional trip, it's quite another to pay the boss
most of your yearly salary for the priviledge of washing the aircraft, car
and running errands. Oh, did I mention being on-call 24/7 which meant no
other part-time jobs?

It's not a coincidence that liberals weaken national defense, give aid and
comfort to our enemies, handcuff our police and soldiers, weaken our
economy, undermine our values, and corrupt our elections.
Scott, how about leaving your political *** at home when you're using
r.a.m.? Your tag line is a cheap shot and abuses everybody's hospitality.
