airpower finished the Japanese in WW2.
It's what brought them to the negotiation table,made them surrender.
Right. Conventional bombing, along with the destruction of Japanese shipping, had pretty much put an end to "effective" resistance. The atomic bombings sped up the capitulation, but even without Olympic, the Japanese would have eventually been starved out.
I agree with those who think that the a-bombs probably saved as many Japanese lives as Allied--certainly the Chinese felt immediate relief.

It's just that Israel is prevented from using full airpower by public opinion..
MOABs would certainly end Hamas as a fighting force.
Without resorting to nukes.
