Thankyou,  I suspect that high speed combat aircraft powered by
motorjets would have been built with liquid fuel rocket motors whose
pumps would be driven by the motor.

Do you recall the pump power for the Me-163?
Ken

It couldn't have been much I'd say 50hp-100hp as the 10 times more
powerful engine of the V2 produced 675hp using the same method of
generating steam via decomposition of hydrogen peroxide over a
permanganate impregnated porus cement aggregate "puffed by making it
with hydrogen peroxide). The HWK 109-509 actually had two turbo-
pumps: a low pressure unit to draw fuel from the tanks this supplied
the high pressure unit thus avoiding cavitation. About 1%-2% of the
Me 163 fuel was used to power the pump: it was such a low requirement
that plans for more efficient two stage turbo pumps were abandoned as
superfluous. Pump power requirements become enormous in high
pressure engines that use liquid hydrogen.

The BMW003R was the well known turbojet with clutch pumps driven of
the auxiliary drives to supply a rocket motor mounted adjacent to the
engine. It's amazingly small: about 1/4th the length of the jet
engine and 1/6th the diameter yet it added 1700kg thrust.

As an aside, did you know that Ian Flemming led a commando team that
captured the Walther Works? No sinister looking and faceless guards
that died for nothing but poor pay: that came in the James Bond
flicks.
