People keep talking about war with Iran, but if it happens, it
may well be in Lebanon against Iranian surrogates.

Israel certainly is paying attention to three areas of deep concern:
Syrian-N Korean nuclear link, Iran's nuclear ambition and threats
against the Jewish State, and payback for Hezbollah during the 2006
"rocket war".

Israel took action on number one, is strategically preparing for
number two, and tactically waiting for an opportunity for number
three. I don't think we will see another 2006 Hezbollah attack
responded to in the same way next time around ;)

Angela Merkel's promise to Israel for German aid against Iran and
recent naval activity with Israel off the Lebanese and Gaza coasts
would be an excellent way to introduce German troops back to war w/o
too much backlash in Europe and the US. They would, of course, be
helping Israel by repaying a huge debt for the Holocaust ;)

Maybe the Leopard IIA-6's debut will indeed be the desert instead of
continental Europe.

Last time, Germany got to practice in Spain first...
