"experience" on this;

If meeting Bob for the first time or ANY time, the best way to deal with
that is to NOT deal with it at all. Bob is a completely normal and
regular guy in every respect. His specialty is public relations which
was what he did at Rockwell (among other things).

My personal make on him is that he likes meeting people who are not in
the least bit impressed with his "reputation" and who treat him as they
would the guy next door.
Guys like Hoover really enjoy chewing the fat with people who shy
completely away from any "star image stuff".
In other words, I wouldn't suggest "practicing" anything at all
beforehand to say to someone like Bob. Just stick out your mitt, smile
and shake hands, and be yourself, because that's what you'll be getting
in return I'm sure.

Dudley, I'm certain that all you've said above is true.
I'm also certain that, no matter how hard I try to be "normal" about it, at
some point early on in the conversation, "I'm talking to _Bob_Hoover_!"
will seep into my forebrain, and my train of thought will derail like a
cheap movie stunt.
Just knowing not only what a Good Stick he is, and the stuff that he's been
a part of...
