Re: Issue Regulations: Presidential Unit Citation

Your version of the regs is exactly as I remember them to be, Ed. I had a
similar experience to yours after WWII when I deactivated the unit (4th
TCSq, 62nd TCGp) that had earned it before my assignment to it. I wore it
proudly throughout my assignment and when I shut the outfit down, I took it
off.

Issue Regulations: Presidential Unit Citation

Yet another load of bull-***. The DSC (and the AF Cross and Navy
Cross) is the second highest award for valor, ranked below only the
Medal of Honor.

The Presidential Unit Citation is a unit award for combat action but
in no way equates with a unit performing to the necessary standard of
a Service Cross.

It should also be noted that the PUC (and all PUC's previously earned
by a unit) can be worn by members of that unit during their tenure
even if the citation was not received while a member of the unit. The
individual is entitled to permanently wear PUC awards earned while in
an assigned unit which receives the award after leaving the unit.

For example, while assigned to the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing I was
entitled to wear the PUC with 4 oak leaf clusters which signified all
awards received by the wing. When I was reassigned I was then
permanently entitled to wear only one PUC which was awarded while I
was a member of the wing.
