The folks who raise the issue are a strange bunch; the extreme loony left, and the folks on
the hard right of the GOP (who make me ashamed to be a Republican, btw); the article
mentioned one of 'em, Elaine Donnelly, but there's also Kate O'Berine, Phyllis Schafly,
Pat Buchanan, etc. I know three female naval aviators (one's a cousin, two others are her
close friends) and they tell me that the subject is something they do talk about, but it's more
an occupational hazard. "If you fly tacair and get shot down, this is something that is a
hazard of the job" was the response. Interestingly enough, Rhonda Cornum (POW in 1991)
told a Presidential commission on women in the military that she was more concerned about
her still-untreated injuries (two broken arms), than the actual assault. Btw, she's now up for
Brig. Gen, if it hasn't gone thru already. I'd bet that most, if not all, female combat aviators
have feelings similar to Rhonda Cornum's (assault is just one of the many bad things that
can happen to you while a POW).
You should have seen the woman ferry pilots in WW II bringing in
Mrauders to our fiekld Florennes Belgium 1944) even in zero zero
conditions when we guys stayed on the ground.

Women have always had more to prove than the men. Some make the grade and then some while others just try to get on with their looks. Good to know the Over Achievers still exist. What can be worse than a pissed of Woman with a 20mm cannon? A pissed off woman with a 30mm Cannon on an Attack Chopper.
