bomb bay dropping bombs in combat? IIRC, thay could carry 4 bombs
internally, with the bombs right behind the pilot mounted at an angle!
I have the internal schematics and photos of them on the ground... but
no actual shots of them in action.

Page 77 of "Yakovlev's Piston-Engined Fighters" by Gordon and Khazanov
shows two photographs of a Yak-9B dropping a FAB-100HE bomb and one
(quite impressive) photograph of a Yak-9B dropping a load of PTAB
bomblets.
"Soviet Combat Aircraft of the Second World War, Volume 1" (also by
Gordon and Khazanov) shows quite an interesting series of photographs
on page 151. One is a lower resolution version of one of the pictures
in the book mentioned above where a Yak-9B drops a FAB-100, the others
show a bomb being loaded and a third pictures shows a very badly
damaged Yak-9B which was, apparantly, a victim of its own bombload,
although the caption doesn't explain exactly what happened.
