How would you like to see this sugar-scoop-intaked terror coming up on you?:http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/airdef/f-103-2.jpghttp://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/airdef/f-103-1.jpg
It never ceases to amaze me what kind of incredible ideas were toyed
with in the 'fifties and sixties. I suppose having gone from subsonic
propeller aircraft to supersonic jets in the decade before, with
hindsight designers can be forgiven for expecting to routinely go to
Mach 3 at the end of the decade. The F-103 and F-107/ F-108 are
outrageous, as is the F-109. I never heard of that one, by the way.
This is unintentionally a very fun read BTW:http://www.geocities.co.jp/HeartLand-Icho/3902/jf/jf_e_century.html
Pat
It is a fun read. It is as though somebody has used a translation
program on a page originally written in some East European language.
Cheers,
