OTIS BOT

Yes, we know that....

Tankfixer,

For once, think this out. the Otis spambot is an annoyance here and
interrupts the main posts of everyone.

I suggest that when the bot posts in bulk, someone or anyone
immediately reply and change subject line to OTIS BOT, bumping all
entries to the top with all the long distracting headings gone- hardly
anyone ever responds to the bot anyway.

This helps clean up the main page and the aviation content is below
the bot spam. Eventually all of its entries in bulk will be pushed off
the page as new aviation entries come in or are replied to.

I also suggest that all political and religious or cross-posting OT
bull*** be labeled OTBS in the same manner. All politics and religion
does here is cause flaming and the trolls flock in. Do we really need
that at RAM?

I do not run RAM so my line-changing was to prove a point and serve as
an alternative way to deal with this pestilence.

If no one wants to participate- OK. I do not run RAM nor seek
censorship... but maybe this is a good idea.

Someone else can take over... or not... but don't then complain when a
storm of OT political posts or religious fanaticism hits. Changing the
subject line IMO destroys the distractions and possible arguments here
with simple generic labels everyone can use.

I think OTIS BOT is very reasonable. OTBS might be offensive to some
so anyone can offer an alternate like NEOT (Non-Essential Off Topic).

Oh well, at least I tried.

If you want Otis back, you can have him and all OT rants that run long
paragraphs down the main page.

Rob
