{EXCERPT} DENVER (ARPCNS) -The annual Air Force Reserve Development Education Designation Board (RDEDB) will convene at the Air Reserve Personnel Center here in November to select Reserve officers for in-residence developmental education schools for the 2008-2009 academic year.
The RDEDB will select qualified Airmen to attend intermediate - and senior-level schools. It will also nominate an Airman to attend the Inter-American Defense College.
Intermediate schools consist of Air Command and Staff College and the Joint Military Intelligence College (one full-time and one part-time course.)
Senior schools are Air War College, Army War College, Naval War College, National War College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and Harvard National Security Fellowship.
This year two new schools will be boarded through the RDEDB: The School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS) and another intermediate school, the Capitol Hill Fellowship program. Course descriptions for all schools can be found athttp://arpc.afrc.af.mil/forcedevelopment/training/rdedb.asp.
Candidates compete for all programs for which they are eligible, officials said. Selected candidates' school preferences and experience as well as the needs of the Air Force Reserve are considered when determining school assignments. Everyone must ensure they prioritize all schools, officials said.
Under the evolving Reserve Force Development construct, the functional community will soon be involved in identifying Airmen for consideration for in-residence developmental education opportunities. Many Development Teams have already been identifying and encouraging their top officers to apply for DE opportunities.
To assist the Development Teams, officers are asked to build a Reserve Officer Development Plan (RODP) identifying their career goals - with special emphasis on their desire and availability for in-residence developmental education. The R-ODP is available online athttps://afrctools.afrc.af.mil/fdp/z_career_dev.asp.
Instructions, criteria and deadlines to submit packages are available online athttp://arpc.afrc.af.mil/forcedevelopment/training/rdedb.asp.
For more information, Airmen can call DSN 926-6396, 303-676-6396 or 800-525-0102 and ask for the military training branch.
