This has con-man written all over it.
Everybody had some "secret mixture" that could do wonderful things back
then.
You want to get the coal fired up? Stick some kerosene in it, the way
you do with a barbecue grill.
Or inject some LOX; they had it back then and believe me, that would
indeed get the coal burning.
It sure worked when they injected the LOX into the internal combustion
prop engine of that goofy airplane/car/boat thing with the disc wing
atop it on the National Mall (sometime in the 1930's IIRC). It sits
there...shakes with huge power... rolls forward around five feet...flips
on its side...and goes up in a huge blaze that the pilot is lucky to
escape.
Makes a very entertaining video.

Didn't Roland Payen (the other forgotten delta pioneer) try to build a
coal-fired ramjet for his Flechair and failed?
Klieghoff apparently preceded him, but Germany in 1919 didn't have
vast resources left over from the war. As a Krupp employee he could
have gotten metal for the plane and had a knowledge of the furnace
effects for making heavy weapons- but how do you apply that at home in
your workshop? It seems to me that an armored plane at that time would
have required RATO units to get it airborn!
Unfortunately, the air digests from the 20s and 30s tended to write
like Popular Mechanics and sci-fi combined. Who knows what truth lies
in that story? I estimate it would have taken more than 7-8 months
just to figure the engine out, let alone assemble an entire untested
machine.
If you find anything more out, let me know. I googled all day and
found nothing on this guy...
Would be nice, however, if someone managed to hide some of the
drawings or a photo of it and it surfaces one day. I am curious about
the basic configuation and fuselage details.
