Good grief! I never heard of planes named for trees (or was it nuts?).
I thought transports, like bombers, got girls' names?


Tree names were used for training aircraft and the Hickory
was used by the Japanese Army for advanced crew training
rather as the RAF used the Andover and Airspeed Oxford.
