Nonsense.....you choose to believe the version that fits your conclusion. In
January 2001, the Niger Embassy in Rome was burgled and stocks of blank
stationery, along with other items, were stolen. In August of the same year,
Italian intelligence received a copy of supposedly Nigerian documents referring
to the alleged prior sale of some 500 tons of yellow cake uranium oxide to Iraq
which they promptly passed on to friendly agencies. Those documents contained
the name of an Italian supposedly involved in the transaction and, when Italian
intelligence further investigated the matter, it became clear to them that the
documents were forgeries because the Italian who was named in the document
physically could not have been involved in the deal.
In any case, we were discussing whether or not other countries had knowledge of
the alleged sale of yellow cake by Niger to Iraq and clearly the Italian
Government did.
