How to improve the MCAS Miramar Airshow (WARNING, no political content)

I'm at a loss as to how to improve it, but I am thinking of approaching
the PAO at Miramar to suggest some small changes. For several years,
it seems that the airshow has gone a bit stagnant, repeating the same
acts and presentations with very few variations. Attendance is down
markedly, and its not because there is less support or enthusiasm for
the troops or aviation - I think its because many in San Diego have
already seen 'the show' and realize that it is going to be a repeat of
the previous year. I noticed my son was narrating the show for his
classmates, down to explaining when the Marines were going to switch
from flyovers to troop insertions and the inevitable big finish -
"After this guy bombs the runway, there is going to be a BIG wall of
fire that goes for 1,000 feet! You can even feel the fire!" If my ten
year old thinks the show is getting repetious, and he is a die-hard
fan, then the show could probably use an injection.
What kinds of things could we suggest? I was thinking of suggesting a
show of captured equipment (jets? a Hind? some of the fSoviet armor
that we've seen brought back for evaluation, etc.) or one of those
"whole airwing" flyovers that used to mark the end of deployments. They
don't have to do anything, just, fly over. Seeing the whole airwing in
formation is one of the most awe-inspiring sights I have ever seen. I
know, I know, the price of JP and all of that, but I mean everyone just
takes off, forms up, and lands - I bet that is less fuel that they use
for the ubiquitous "airfield assault show" that we have all gotten a
little tired of seeing. An Antonov HMF would be a real show stopper -
how about some LCAC action?
Anyone have other ideas..?
After 20+ years of going to the Miramar Airshow (and for 5 years,
seeing the same show!), I think that if next year it doesn't have some
updating, we might skip it. If the EDW show is on next year, we may
make the five hour drive to see that one instead.
