Re: 'Wonderful time to be a soldier' (Joe Roche)

That "piece of ***" you define as the average American is also the
taxpayer that foots your bills and the decision makers of foreign
policy that puts your sorry ass in the line of fire. You don't make any
decisions about what war you will fight or when or for how long and the
civilian contractor army is better equipped than you. While you supply
endless bodybags to Iraq for your soldiers the contractors are eating
imported food and drinking fine wine while getting paid generously for
their job. And they aren't subject to military law, no one is
court-martialing them for sexually abusing Iraqis. They are free to do
as they will and they have more prestige than you since no
administration official is escorted by the US Army- they have
contractor protection, which is better.
BTW, wtf does being a college educated, or an athlete, or highly
motivated and disciplined have to do with being a sitting target in
Baghdad? Or driving a poorly armored Hummer over a ILM? Or being sniped
from a population that openly carries arms?
You're nothing but an expendable body needed to fill in that 138,000
troop level, which has always been inadequate to secure a nation of
tens of millions. You need at least 250,000 troops and despite your
best efforts in the Wal-Mart parking lots you can't bridge that gap.
Fact. The NG right now is gonna have a tough time just raising troops
for hurricane Katrina as the situation worsens. God forbid we attack
another nation.
You can talk all the *** you want but the US Army is in deep trouble
and everyone knows it. "Bootcamp to Bodybag" should be your slogan
since its reality-based and not part of an infomercial.
