Are aged tires a driving hazard? 20/20 says: unequivocally yes.

But there are a few caveats. Brian Ross et al blather on about lack of
disclosure. But those tire treads littering the highway? Most - including
the one shown in the video - appear to be from retreaded truck tires, not
new car tires. They are not "evidence of the problem."

Were all of those wrecked cars in Texas there because of tread separation?

When a tire company spokesman says there is no science to back up the claim
that tires should not be sold past 6 years, Ross simply asks if the rep ever
asked why the Brits recommend not selling tires over 6 years of age. Why
couldn't Ross give us the science, instead of relying on hearsay from a
personal injury lawyer and a professional "expert" who gets paid to testify
for lawsuits?
