Re: check engine light/missing/possessed???

well i am hoping we may have fixed the problem as far as the missing and the
check engine light coming on and off, and the cruise light, and the locks.
we replaced the egnitions switch last night on the car and it appears to be
running fine, without missing and yesturday before we did this, all i had to
do was drive the car for not even 10 mintues and it was missing really bad.
Hopefully now they will be able to hook the car up to the computer long
enough for it to read what is going on now that the car is not missing so
much. so far today it has been drove over 40 mintues and no missing.
however the turn signal still does not work from the inside or the outside.
and the flashers still will not come on at all. you dont even hear the
clicking at all. already replaced the fuze, could this be the flasher? been
told by several people at parts places that if the lights wont even come on
it Cant be the flasher, then others say yes it can? any idea. just dont
want to continue dumping money into the car for soemthing it doesnt need.
we still do have to clean the other side of the cables. maybe that will make
a difference. if you have any ideas on the turn signal that would be great.
thanks for all your knowledge.

the battery post has been cleaned and the amps have been checked,

Did you clean the other end of both cables ??? Remeber each cable has two
ends and they both need to be clean and tight.

the codes were 51 and 43.

You need the P codes to diagnose the 43 code properly. The P codes
started with OBDII and are in the Pxxxx format. You need the P code to
pinpoint what the 43 code means. It does not cross directly over from the
Pxxxx code.

i took the car in and had it read on a computer
and thats were we found that the the left bank is running too lean, and
the
right bank is running to rich to compinsate.

The right bank will not run rich to compensate for the left side. The
left and right banks work independently from each other.

But the guy who checked it on
the computer said that each time the car misses and the lights flash on
and

is.
its almost as if the car keeps shutting off the computer.

If the above is true then how did you get the trouble codes you posted
above ? The problem you describe is battery voltage or ground being removed
from the computer. When you remove power from the computer it clears the
memory so that any stored codes are erased. I would suspect a bad ground.
There are various ground wires on a vehicle. You mentioned earlier that you
had other electronic items that messed up when this happened ( cruise
control and door locks ). You need a wiring diagram to see if all three
circuits ( cruise, locks, PCM ) share a common ground or power supply. You
will then need to check those circuits for a poor connection.

he said he had
never seen this before. other than this nothign else has been done.
thanks for your help. any ideas???

If the guy working on your car told you he had never seen this before
you need to find someone with some experience with this type of problem if
you expect to get your car repaired. You need someone with electrical and
driveabilty experience.

i have several questions. so if anyone out there can help please do....

you clean the battery cables and posts before you do anything else as that
may be causing all your problems, depending on how dirty they are.
