Ford automatic overdrive transmission

I have a 1990 van with the OD transmission, E8OD. A while ago I
thought I should push the "disengage overdrive" button. I did, and now
the transmission will not go into overdrive. The light on the switch
stays unlit as well. Normally the light is "on".
I tried removing the switch, no change. I removed the sealed boot for
the wires on the transmission, applied some Corrosion X, still no
change. Any suggestions?
