Anyone know what a pinging(?) noise from under the car around 1500 RPM
during acceleration may be?
(The sound is suggestive of something lightly striking a hollow metal
object, something like 3 times a second. No idea what actually makes the
noise.)
The car is automatic, about 9 years old.
MAKE AND MODEL PLEASE!!! Caplock key/shouting deliberate.

Thanks.
This sounds like engine knocking to me. You notice this sound at low
rpms and during acceleration where engine load is high. If your engine
is fully computer controlled
Since the poster chooses not to share make and model with us no useful
answer can be given. He could have a Lexus, could have a Volkswagen
diesel!

you should review your knock sensor.
Which it may or may not have.
It may be not working as it should so the timing cannot be retarded.
Check it again by fulling your tank with a high octane fuel.
