Re: amsoil - good or bad?

IMHO, only a total dickhead would try to press any oil, and no filters,
to
this extent.

Oil and filters are relatively cheap. Engines are not.

You do what you wish, but I will continue to change oil and filters at
3000
miles.

Did it today, as a matter of fact, and it cost me $21 for Castrol and a
Bosch filter.

I will not spend $20 for a dumb*** oil analysis, when I can change for
the
same amount.

::You offer nothing factual to this discussion and it appears that you
know more than the engineers at General Motor whose oil life system
monitor typically indicates the need for an oil & filter change only at
6K or double the recommended change interval of 3K used in the past. And
keep in mind that they have to be on the conservative side as they will
have to honor the warranty. This is using dino oil. I therefore see no
problem using synthetic oil and a quality filter for 10K. I guess if I
am a dickhead then the folks at GM are also because at times your
change oil light will come at 10K. Oh! You also mentioned cost so get
this I have experienced a 15% increase in MPG using Valvoline?s
Synpower from 20MPG to 23MPG so add the savings up over only 3K and you
will see that Synthetic is actually cheaper (if you can do the math J).
My engine is mechanically sound at 60K and I fully intend to take it to
300K changing oil every 10K. I am not advocating Amsoil?s 35K
recommendation all I am saying is that I feel confident in the
independent tests showing that it goes 14K without needing to change
the oil or filter so 10K in my good engine will be just fine. ::
