Don't worry, I just saw a pic of the car on Speed and it has
Little Debbie
on the hood today. I forgot that the Little Debbie owners don't
work/advertise on Saturdays.
they still sell on saturdays though.
the owners are 7th Day Adeventists.
one thing about Little Debbie's is they are the least expensive
product on
the snack shelf by a goodly margin.
Thank you for that tid-bit.
Now, along with M&M's I will no longer purchase Little Debbie
products, no matter the price.
===========================================================================
they make a decent product at a good price. they don't come to your
door trying to convert you.
and all religions are equally far-fetched.
The fact that you exist is not far-fetched. Do you really think you
evolved from Darwin's Ape in the tree? Do you really believe that?
I do.
I am not going to try to preach you no sermon but
I think you forgot about this :p
if you think you
somehow evolved from an ape in a tree you are completely nuts. There is
no evidence of that and it would take a billion years.
You say there is no evidence of evolution than call others nuts??
You may be able to argue against the theory but claiming there is no
evidence of it is the pathetic rantings of an extremist... although
I do think you know and maybe intend that.
How many years have we had horses and dogs? 5,000 or 10,000 or
more? And how far has the horse or dog evolved in that time? Pretty
close to none. Even with all of our careful husbandry a dog
is still a dog and a horse it still a horse. They are not any
bigger or better or live any longer.
So you athiests and agnostics want me to believe that we evolved
from an ape in a tree? By simple observation that is impossible.
Thousands, nay Millions, of respected scientists think there has been
enough time, and the fossil record tends to back up their opinion.
But true or not, have you ever stopped to ask yourself why
creationists feel the overwhelming need to discredit evolution
rather than trying to work out how it might fit with their beliefs?
Surely God having created whatever source we evolved from could
still fit in with most beliefs, if religion can get past the
narcisitic concept that we ARE God's image. Maybe we were at the
point of creation and changed since then?
The Intelligent Design activivists remind me of Scientology with
their black ops style tactics. That alone should set off red flags
about their bona fides to any free thinking person. (and does for
the vast majority imho)

I do not feel that I fall into either camp. I am just saying that to
me the time frame does not fit. There is not enough time for the ape
to have evolved into me. Perhaps you feel that there has been enough
time for the ape to have evolved into you. That is all well and good
and we are just splitting hairs.
I use domesticated animals just to illustrate a point. A goat is a
goat and tabby cat is a tabby cat same as it was when Cleopatra owned
them. That represents thousands of years of domestication and
selective breeding.
So how does some tree hanging ape turn into RickyBobby?
I have all the respect possible for Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton
and Albert Einstein. I am not anti-science and learning and logic.
Nothing in nature is 10,000 times superior to the next thing. But I
am 10,000 times smarter than the smartest ape or dolphin. There is
nothing in the writings of Darwin and his moths and butterflies that
could explain that.
My dog does not acknowlege any supreme power and she seems to go
about her daily business just fine without be struck dead. I have
enough intellect to believe in a diety and think that I have been
given that intellect just for the purpose of knowing that there is
something greater than gravity and chemisty.
It is not about worship. It is not about giving a tithe to your local
church. It is not about falling to your knees in a prone position of
a little rug five times per day.
I do not intend to debate any atheist or agnostic. If they want to
believe that there was some magical time when the chimp fell out of
the tree and lost most of its hair and grew most of its intellect
that it their belief.
I personally choose to believe that there is indeed a diety that gave
me my intellect solely so that I can know that some diety exists.
Let me make is clear one more time that I am not against Darwin or
any other of the great scientists and thinkers.
All that I am trying to say is that for me the idea of Evolution does
not fit in terms of math and time. Maybe for you it does. There is
nothing wrong with believing that you evolved from an ape since the
most recent Ice Age. I suppose that is perfectly reasonable without
any divine intervention or close encounters of the third kind.
Since nobody really knows it does make for a good debate.
Your example of domestic animals example doesn't really fit. Evolution
occurs when environmental circumstances force it. Domestic animals have had
little need to change over the last few thousand years, a major evolution
takes a lot longer than that and I would be very surprised if some form of
evolution has not been observed in those species anyway.
I see your point about how amazing we are compared to anything else but
don't see it as pointing to divine creation over evolution. Surely it's
fairly preditable and inline with evolution theory that whatever species
ended up as dominant on this planet would have a huge advantage? Why not
10,000 times smarter than number 2?
Is it just objectionable that an ape may form part of our evolutionary
history? What if we just came from cavemen and apes were a distinct and
different linage. Would that be more palatable?
Do you think our ancestors where cavemen btw? I'm not sure what religions
say about cavemen.
