it's not forgotten and it's apples to oranges... prohibition involvedMarijuana and cocaine used to be legal.
making
a legal substance illegal... folks always get upset when you take things
from them...if you never give them their poison, there's no reason for
folks
to get pissy if it's taken away...
Look it up.
just gotta shake my head... points get missed all the time on USENET.... you
can't run to CVS(unless it's on the right corner!) and buy you a 6 pack of
maryjane or such... (that is excepting the medicinal marijuana vending
machines that folks seem to love)... there's a huge difference between
substances being legal for sale, then "taken away" then things you've always
known were "illegal"... then again, this is usenet and folks will find
different angles just to argue!
what i think your trying to say is...that although weed and coke used
to be legal at one point, they were still prescribed things, and not
available for sale to the general public, unless they had a medical
reason for such. Alcohol was legal before prohibition and could be
bought at the store similar to can be now, when it's taken away from
the public like that the outrage will spark and people willingly
supported the mob to support the alcohol business. So although
marijuana and coke were legal, per say, there was a limitation to it,
in that one had to have a prescription for it.
No prescription was required. You could buy, sell, and manufacture
cocaine, marijuana, and any other substance. Now, government tells
us want we can or cannot consume. How does it feel to learn your
constitutional rights have been taken away.
A lot has changed in the last hundred years or so. At this time, the
United States of America more closely resembles a totalitarian state
rather than what the founding fathers intended.
