It is time for this rule to hit the highway. A new formula needs to
be developed that progresses throughout a current race season. Ony
the top 12 to make the chase in a previous year should be guaranteed a
spot in the first race of each new season, Daytona.
From that point on, all drivers need to race their way into each
event. As I said, only the top 12 from a previous race year have a
guarenteed start on the first race of a new season. .
I respectfully disagree
(not necessarily re: exact number "35")
But serious sponsors need some assurance
that the cars they pay big money to support
will be in front of the viewing audience.
If it all becomes 'unknown' - they will pay less.
Then, the value of the show will decline.
The value of the show will decline to whom? NASCAR? Who cares about
the billionaires that run NASCAR?
I think Roger is talking more about the fans. They used to put on
great races when car budgets were $1 million and less and could again.
Who says all the cars have to have $20 million budgets apiece to put
on a good show? F1 cars are budgeted in the hundreds of millions of
dollars a year and all they do is pace around in Q order most of the
day, winning or losing based on pit strategy...Call me crazy, but that
incredibly "valuable show" is much less entertaining than NASCAR's
races. Even the bad NASCAR races.
