i dont think he brought anyone except Eury jr., am i right?
Ping: Sim!!
How 'bout yer Mooresville Mafia gettin' us some details on this? My
recollection was that there were a number of folks (over-the-wall and shop
guys) that went with the Juniors.
Am pretty certain that Tony Junior was the only other DEI employee
that went to HMS proper. Several did leave DEI and go to JRM, which of
course is now a joint venture with HMS...so it depends no how finely
you wish to split the hairs.
Wasn't TJ spotting for Junior at TEI?
I don't think so. I think this is Majors' first year as Junior's
spotter in Cup. TJ used to race for Junior when JRM was but a Late
Model team. And I do think that TJ spotted for Junior in some of his
Busch races last year...But for the last few years at DEI, Steve Hmiel
was Junior's spotter in Cup. Before that, it was Ty Norris.
Tony Sr went to the JRM Nationwide effort with HMS teamed with them.
Yup. Pops is the CC for Keselowski and the Navy 88 and I've heard
Junior utter something to the effect that Pops "runs the shop" as
well. Sounds like he has a lot of the responsibility over there at the
moment. Most of Junior's 17 Cup wins and 22 Busch wins at DEI had Eury
Sr on the pitbox, so he has skills - I can see why Junior would trust
him with the operation. Rick Hendrick obviously trusts them too if he
turned over/merged "Ricky's" Busch team to JRM.
I like Tony Eury jr he has
personality which is something missing in today's sport.
Agreed. There's almost always sumpin inneresting from TEJr when Parsons
talks with him pre- and post-race on Hot Pass.
Yup. I also dig it when they corner Tom Stewart, one of June's
engineers, for an interview...You can tell he's not had a lot of TV
time and is anxious about it when it happens. Smart fella though, I'm
really glad that he and Grubb are on the 88 team. I also like the
HotPass announce team of Parsons and Allen. Their time together in the
truck series makes them perfect broadcast partners IMO, and then
really seem to dig calling Junior's races.
Did you have HP by the Michigan race? Junior gave Phil a great
compliment after the end of their Victory Lane interview, in passing,
that was barely audbile to the mic. "I'm really glad you were the one
here with us." or something to that effect. Seems Junior and Phil are
pals at the very least.
