I think your statistic is wrong. I believe it pertains to non-
citizens and naturalized citizens, which are not the majority. Do you
have a cite? The number of school-age children (ages 5-17) who spoke a
language other than English at home is 20 percent.

pretty hard to get to your statement from "20% of children."

the percentage of naturalized U.S. citizens who spoke English as a
first language was 36% and the percentage of U.S.-born citizens
speaking English as a first language was 84%.
I don't see how any calculation gets you to "a majority" don't speak
English as a first language. Explain.
