Those stick and ball organizations aren't privately held like the
France organizations. That may have something to do with the donation
to charity.

Many if not all pro sports teams (stick and ball) are privately held.
I'm not aware of a pro sports team that is traded on the
market..although there could be some...

But does one family "own" the NFL or the NBA? I guess my comparison
was off a little, but they aren't really comparable, as far as I can
see. That's not to say that the France family shouldn't donate fine
money to charity - I think that would be great.
