crew had those funky Coca-Cola pants that I am old enough to remember.
I think I saw one crewmember with shorts on.

Go back far enough and the drivers only wore t-shirts and a leather helmet.
Some of the real old time drivers, especially in open wheel, wouldn't wear
seat belts. The thinking being it is better to be thrown clear of the
wreck. Back in the 50's, that happened to Johnny Key, who was originally
from California, but back east racing midgets. He brought two of them. I
can't immediately recall which track it was, but he had a wreck and was
thrown clear. Only to be hit and killed by his other car while getting up
off of the track.
