NOTE: Rules subject to change.


1. COMPETING MODELS

(a) Any 1972 or newer model sedan. No Station Wagons, Convertible,
Pick-Ups, Jeeps, etc.

(b) No Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, or similar type cars.

(c) Strictly an economy based class, no performance modifications
of any type will be allowed.



2. GENERAL CAR AND BODY REQUIREMENTS

(a) General Car:

(1) All casting numbers and part numbers must remain intact and
unaltered.

(2) Car must be strictly stock. No cutting, chopping, channeling or
shortening allowed.

(b) Overall Car Weight: No adding of weight. No movable weight
permitted. No minimum weight required, however no more than 52% of the
total vehicle weight will rest on left side of car with driver.



3. DETAILED CAR BODY REQUIREMENTS In addition to the car body
requirements in section 2.

(a) Complete bumper - to - bumper steel body must be retained.

(b) The stock floor pan, fire walls, trunk, trunk floor, (see fuel
cell rule) and rear wheel wells remain intact. (front wheel wells may
be removed).

(c) All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut.

(d) No holes in the hood. Hood must be kept in place at all times
(minimum three (3) hood pins or fasteners are mandatory).

(e) Body *** metal must be kept in place at all times. Fenders
cannot be trimmed, except to allow minimum clearance. Must be neatly
finished. Holes must be filled.

(f) All chrome, lights, trim and upholstery must be removed.
Holes must be filled inside and out.

(g) Inner panel of driver door may be removed to allow proper
installation of roll bars.

(h) Inner panel of passenger door may be removed to add a rub bar
and allow panel repair. Max. one 1 ½" bar at furthest point out &
inside door panel.

(i) No gutting of body parts including hood, door lid, etc. Must
have a dash, side to side.

(j) No gaps allowed at bottom of doors and at doors and
firewalls.

(k) Rear and side windows must be removed.

(l) No side mirrors

(m) All cars must be neatly and brightly painted

(n) Windshields: Lexan windshields only, must be a minimum of 1/8 "
thick covering all windshield openings and must be retained by at least
2 clips each at top and bottom. If mesh is used, heavy screen of
expanded metal is recommended. (1/2" square mesh minimum, 1"
Maximum). Mesh screens are permitted with roll bar in center of
opening. Two (2) reinforcing straps for windshields mandatory.

(o) Rear View Mirror: One rear view mirror only, mounted in center
of car. All mirrors subject to tech approval.

(p) Bumpers and Rear Filler Panel:

(1) Stock only. Safety straps must be attached a 1/8 " x 2" minimum
from end of bumper to quarter panel. No hidden reinforcement or nerf
bars allowed.

(2) A yellow stripe, a minimum of 3" high x 24" long is to be
placed on rear bumper to designate all "ROOKIE" drivers.

(q) Identification and Marking:

(1) All cars will display a one (1) or two (2) digit number series
(0 - 99) as assigned. No duplicate numbers allowed.

(2) Number will be a minimum of 18" on roof and 18" on each door.

(3) The assigned car number will be placed neatly in right front
headlight area, as large as possible that fits neatly in the assigned
area.

(4) The assigned car number will be neatly placed on the right
front of the windshield, 3 " high minimum.

(5) No duplication of numbers, additional letters such as X, Y, or
N is not allowed.

(6) Advertising or names of any kind is not allowed on the
windshield. This will be reserved for a series sponsor, when secured.

(7) Advertising that is deemed unsuitable/offensive will not be
allowed.

(8) Series sponsor decals must be placed on designated location of
car to be eligible for awards. This to be completed PRIOR to competing
in an event



4. GENERAL ENGINE REQUIREMENTS

(a) Engines must remain stock for make and model of car being used.
All engines subject to tech approval.



5. DETAILED ENGINE REQUIREMENTS

(a) Engine blocks must be a V-8 type, and must be stock factory
production. No Chevy Bow-Tie or manufactured performance blocks.

(b) All internal engine parts must remain OEM specifications as to
size, shape, weight and finish. NO EXCEPTIONS!

(c) Any procedure associated with a common rebuild will be allowed.

(d) Engine Ground Clearance:

(1) Oil Pans must have a minimum of three (3) inches of clearance.

(e) Engine Mounts:

(1) Engine mounts must remain stock. May be reinforced or strapped

(f) Engine Compression Ratio: Cylinder compression limited to 175
lbs., measured with Irwindale Speedway technical inspection gauges. All
results are final.

(g) Piston/Rods:

(1) No forged or pop-up pistons. Stock type cast replacement
pistons only.

(2) No aftermarket performance or lightened rods. No grinding or
polishing of beams allowed. After market rod bolts are allowed.

(h) Oil Pans and Coolers:

(1) Engine oil pan must have a screw-in plug, minimum 1" diameter
installed in upper reservoir area and safety wired in. Must not be
obstructed by wind-age pans, baffles, etc.

(i) Cylinder Heads:

(1) Cylinder heads must be "stock factory production". Official
interpretation of the words "stock factory production": A stock head
will be characterized as a cylinder head which was offered as standard
equipment with no performance advantage.

(2) Any cylinder head not being standard replacement OEM equipment
will be considered illegal. No special performance options will be
allowed including, but not limited to, oversize valves, special cut
valves, relocated intake or exhaust bowls or ports. No porting,
polishing or gasket matching will be allowed.

(3) Heads may be cleaned, hot tanked, or cleaned by another method
which does not remove metal.

(4) No grinding, shot-peening, acid etching, flow honing or any
process to remove metal or change flow direction.

(5) No Chevy Bow-Tie, Dart, World, or any other brand or
manufacturer of aftermarket performance heads, street or racing.

(6) Stock replacement valves only, including size, except SB Chevy
- 1.94 intake, 1.50 exhaust

(7) Maximum 3 angle valve job. All angles must be centered off the
valve guide. No back cutting or undercutting of valves allowed.

(8) Valve must be stock factory production specifications. No dual
valve springs

(9) All rockers maximum 1.50 stamped steel only. No long slot
rockers, no roller rockers or roller tip rockers, no stud girdles
allowed. Press in studs may be changed to screw in studs.

(j) Crankshaft and Harmonic Balancer:

(1) No aftermarket performance or lightened crank shafts.

(2) Any hydraulic cam allowed with maximum lift of .425" small
blocks, .455" big blocks. Subject to tech approval

(k) Intake Manifold:

(1) No aluminum intake manifolds allowed, including factory
performance manifolds.

(l) Carburetor:

(1) No dual line double pumpers.

(2) Only allowable carburetor will be: (BOX STOCK ONLY EXCEPT AS
NOTED)

(i) Holley - 2 barrel # 0-4412 500 CFM

(3) Carburetor adapter to manifold permitted.

(4) No modifications allowed to any carburetor - exception: you
may remove choke butterflies only.

(5) Two (2) throttle return springs are MANDATORY on all
carburetors, mounted to the engine block.

(6) No electric fuel pumps, fuel injection, turbo chargers,
superchargers, or pressure systems allowed.

(7) No controlled vacuum leaks allowed.

(m) Air Intake: (air filter):

(1) Dry paper filter only. Top and bottom to be same diameter, no
flow diverters of any type allowed. If car came with a hood scoop it
must be filled in and smoothed over.



6. ENGINE/CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

(a) Ignition System: Stock ignition only - no MSD type
aftermarket performance parts allowed, including but not limited to,
coil, module, cap, rotor, etc.

(b) Starter: All cars will have starters in good working order with
switches clearly marked, and accessible to the driver while strapped
in, as well as from outside the car. All cars must be able to start on
their own power to maintain their starting position.

(c) Battery: Battery must be mounted behind driver. No marine or
plastic type boxes allowed. Subject to tech approval.

(d) Electrical Switches and Locations: All cars must have battery
cut off switch located in the ground cable, clearly marked within the
driver's reach, and easily accessible from outside the car.

(e) Accessories: After market gauges allowed, no plastic tubes to
oil pressure gauge. No electronic traction control devices allowed.



7. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM

(a) General Cooling System: No anti-freeze or other coolant in
radiators. Water only. Fineable offense for use of coolant water wetter
allowed.

(b) Fan: Stock fans only. Plastic fans allowed. No electric fans
allowed. Fan clutch must be removed and changed to direct drive.

(c) Fan Shroud and Ducts: Fan must remain in fan shroud.

(d) Radiator: Must maintain stock radiator core support.

(e) Overflow: Water overflow catch can unit required. One (1) quart
minimum, vented out to windshield, metal or plastic JAZ type only,
mounted in engine compartment.



8. ENGINE LUBRICATION



9. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM

(a) Exhaust Manifold: No headers allowed. Stock cast iron exhaust
manifolds only. No porting or polishing

(b) Exhaust Pipes: Exhaust must extend behind driver. Maximum
exhaust size 2 1/2". No 2 to 1 or cross over pipes allowed

(c) Mufflers: An approved muffler is mandatory, must not exceed 95
db @ 100 feet.



10. DRIVE TRAIN

(a) Rear end may be locked.

(b) Automatic transmissions only. No two speeds unless it came
originally in your car. Must be able to show proof.

(c) All parts to remain stock.

(d) Automatic transmissions must have functional torque converter.

(e) Automatic transmissions must have transmission cooler. After
market type, mounted in engine compartment. This is in addition to
radiator cooler to take heat out of transmission and radiator mount
cooler to radiator.

(f) Transmission:

(1) Transmission mounts must remain stock. May be reinforced or
strapped

(g) Wheels and Lug Bolts: Wheels may be reinforced. Maximum 7"
steel wheel only. Steel stock type wheels only. No aluminum, magnesium
or similar type wheels allowed. No bleeder valves permitted. 5/8 "
studs and large lug nuts MANDATORY on Right FRONT and REAR, and is
recommended on left side. If flat tire or wheel loss occurs, it shall
be mandatory to immediately, and in a safe manner, leave the race
course. One wheel spacer allowed. Right front only. Spacer or one odd
offset wheel may be used for clearance.

(h) Tires:

(1) Goodyear D2935 track tires only, (except when the first race is
held at Irwindale Speedway).

(2) No "soaking" or treatment of tires will be tolerated.
Violators, or an attempt to violate the treatment rule will result in
immediate disqualification for all of the events on that day, loss of
all points and money earned for that event, plus a $100.00 per tire
fine for any tire deemed treated or altered.

(3) No recap tires of any kind, except track supplied racing recap.
No other racing tires allowed.



11. FRAME REQUIRMENTS

(a) Stock frames only. No modifications. No alterations of any type
allowed.

(b) No alterations, customizing, or reinforcing of the chassis,
other than the roll cage.

(c) Roll cage must attach securely and safely to frame. Rear kicker
may be attached to frame for safety purposes only, and must be covered.
May not extend out of drivers compartment.

(d) Any sparking or dragging of any part may be cause for immediate
posting (black flag) from a race, and you will not be allowed to
continue until the problem is fixed and checked out by an official.
Failure to comply with posting will result in immediate
disqualification.


12. SUSPENSION

(a) No modifying of suspension is allowed. Stock OEM sway bar may
be adjustable.

(b) Suspension parts must remain absolutely stock for that make and
model of car - absolutely no cutting for clearance.

(c) Maximum camber allowances for clearance right front. Chevrolet
pos +4.5 degrees (front steer), Dodge & Ford pos +6 degrees (rear
steer). Maximum camber allowance left front: neg 3 degrees.

(d) Maximum camber allowance left front : 3 degrees. No stock mount
racing shocks. No racing shocks painted to hide brand.

(e) Stock replacement shocks only.

(f) Coil spring cars must have a safety cable running thru spring
and attached to frame and rear end ( if stock clamps are missing).

(g) Stock replacement coil or leaf springs only.

(h) Wheelbase Requirements:

(1) Minimum stock wheelbase allowed is111".



13. STEERING

(a) Stock steering only. No after market parts designed to lower,
widen, correct bump steer, or geometry.

(b) No steering quickners allowed.



14. BRAKES AND COOLING COMPONENTS

(a) Brake Components: Stock four wheel brakes required in good
working order. All brakes must function. No inline adjustors allowed.



15. FUEL
(a) Pump or track fuel only. To be eligible for points and awards
you must purchase track fuel from fuel vendor. Type and brand of fuel
TBD before season begins.
(b) No Nitrous or similar type systems allowed.


16. FUEL SYSTEM
(a) Fuel Cell: Fuel cell mandatory. Max. 22 gallons. Fuel cell must
have a ground strap from filler neck to frame. Fuel cell foam required.

(b) Fuel Cell Container: Fuel cell must be encased in a container
no less than 20-gauge steel. Securely fastened by four (4) 1.8" x 1"
straps in trunk area (two left and two right, two front and two rear).
*** metal of trunk floor may be removed to allow placement of fuel
cell only, maximum 2" clearance around cell; cell may not be lower than
frame rails. If floor is removed, fuel cell must be supported by a 1" x
1" square tube frame.

(c) Fuel Filler and Vent Requirements: Tip over valve required on
vent line.



17. PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND ROLL BARS

(a) Aluminum professionally built high back racing seat with padded
headrest required.

(b) Seat must be securely bolted to a mount assembly that is an
integral part of the roll cage.

(c) Seat will not be attached to the floorboard.

(d) A five- (5) point safety harness, with quick release is
mandatory with a 3" wide lap belt, 3" shoulder belts, and a 2"
submarine belt. All belts shall be attached to roll cage using minimum
3/8 grade 8 hardware and safety cables.

(e) Cotton harness components prohibited.

(f) Safety harnesses/seat belts may be no more than three (3)
years old. If necessary, proof of purchase may be required.

(g) Safety helmet must meet Snell 95 testing standards, bear proper
identification, and have no signs of previous damage.

(h) Window net mandatory. Minimum 1" mesh with release at top only.
It is required that all window net releases be updated to the quick
release seat belt type with releases located and facing the outside of
the car. No close mesh off-road type allowed.

(i) Fire suit mandatory at all times.

(j) Approved racing gloves mandatory.

(k) Approved racing shoes mandatory.

(l) Eye protection is mandatory and must be in proper place at
all times.

(m) Current test date (2 pound minimum) fire extinguisher to be
installed in the car within drivers reach while strapped in. Steel
mounts only, no plastic.

(n) Two (2) drive line straps, 1" x 1/8" required, mounting to be
within 6" of the U-joints.

(o) Oil catch can recommend for breathers.

(p) All cars will be required to have in their pits a minimum of
one 5 pound, Halon or dry chemical fire extinguisher. This is to be
visible to tech officials and all crewmembers. All crewmembers must be
made aware of its location, and knowledgeable in the use of the fire
extinguisher

(q) Car and driver will be required to make safety rule violations
comply PRIOR to racing any event.

(r) Roll Bars:

(1) Driver's protection bars must remain within the driver's
area. At no time may they pass through any firewall, no forward or
rearward bars may protrude from roll cage.

(2) A NASCAR-type, 6-point roll cage is required. Minimum 1 ½ "
..090 wall gusset as necessary for strength.

(3) Roll bar may not reinforce the body or frame to alter the
geometry of the car, or to increase performance capabilities, but only
serve as a safety feature.

(4) A minimum of 3 door roll bars on each side.

(5) Rear kickers are permitted, see rule 12C.

(6) Driver door bars must be covered with 1/16" thick metal plate
top to bottom, from front and rear uprights, welded to outside edge of
door bars. Roll bars must be padded at any point where a driver may
come in contact. Padding must be approved roll bar padding only.

(7) No speedway bars allowed.

(8) Radiator protection may be added, limited and subject to tech
approval.

18. ENGINE CLAIM

(a) Any engine may be claimed in the Pure Stock class for $900.00.
Included in claim: Long block (including block, heads, all internal
parts including push rods).

(b) Claiming Procedure:

(1) Engine must be claimed within 20 minutes of Pure Stock Main
Event checkered flag.

(2) Only top 5 finishers are subject to claim.

(3) Only current Irwindale Speedway drivers in the Pure Stock
Division (must have competed in the last three (3) Pure Stock Main
events. Must finish on the lead lap.

(4) $900.00 cash (no checks, money orders, bank checks, etc.) is to
be given to the Director of Competition with only the car number of the
engine to be claimed in a sealed envelope.

(5) Driver putting up claim will pay tow truck driver $50.00 cash
to pull engine once it is loosened up.

(6) Claimed engine will be marked by tech and must be run in the
car of the driver that posted the claim in the next scheduled event.

(7) Failure to accept a claim will result in a $500.00 fine and a
three (3) race suspension.

(8) Promoter has the option of claiming any engine, finishing in
any position, in any event.

(9) No claim will be accepted on the last two (2) points race's of
the season.

(10) One claim per driver. If you have claimed an engine that then gets
claimed, you are eligible to claim another engine.
