NASCAR-TRUCK: Michigan: Bobby Hamilton Jr preview

Bobby Hamilton Sr. finished his chemotherapy and radiation on Wednesday
June 7th. The elder Hamilton is on the road to recovery, resting and
taking some time to heal all the wounds that were endured during the
treatment process.

"I'm just glad the treatment part is over," Hamilton
said of his neck cancer treatment. "I've basically been put
through the ringer as all cancer patients do during therapy. We went for
chemo treatments every Monday (11 times) and then radiation was a daily
deal, Monday through Friday 33 times. Because of the culmination of the
treatments, the last three weeks have been harder to endure than the
first part, but my doctors told me that was to be expected. Everything
they have prepared me for has happened and then some. I lost my voice,
got winded, endured the worst sore throat I've ever felt, had my neck
blistered over on the outside and battled being tired all the time. They
tell me that the chemo I am on will continue to work on me for the next
two weeks and the radiation will do the same thing. Then after that
things should start picking up for me health wise. In the meantime, I
spend most of my awake time on the phone with team members at BHR trying
to get the Fastenal Dodge and our other two Dodge teams back on track
aerodynamically. We've been on the phone with NASCAR and had a lot
of calls back and forth between us and others to get these Dodges back in
Victory Lane. I'm still making the calls at my shop, but have put
people in the right places to oversee that things are moving in the right
direction. I can go into the shop for a little while, meet with some of
the guys give them some things to work on and then check back in with
them on the status. It's a work in progress, just like my health is
right now. I am taking it day by day and doing what I can when I can. I
will be back at the track as soon as my white blood count gets higher so
I can see the people who have been so generous to me during this time.
I'm anxious but will do what the doctored ordered."
