Tells us a lot about Dave Baker.
beers,
I'm not sure what you think it tells you about me but I'm very sure of my
facts about the American people. In global education surveys they
routinely come right towards the bottom of the list in knowledge of
science, maths, geography and history compared to people from other
countries. In his book Broca's Brain, Carl Sagan was dismayed at how many
high school students couldn't actually point to the USA on a globe of the
world with the landmasses unmarked. Something like 25% I think it was
pointed to Asia on the assumption that as America is clearly the most
important country in the world (to them at least) it must also be the
biggest.
The Bush administration managed to convince nearly 70% of the population
that Iraq was responsible for the 9/11 attacks simply by having his people
repeat the mantra "Iraq, Al Qaeda and 9/11" at every possible opportunity
until the sheeples had assumed a linkage between the three that never
existed. Even after the war when Bush was forced into stating on camera
that Iraq had not had anything to do with 9/11, surveys found that 40% of
the population continued to think it had.
With people this poorly educated and so unaware of the world outside the
USA it's easy to lead them by the nose into believing any crap you like.
Just lie to them - like Fox News does every day. When they can't be
bothered to fact check or compare any other source of news they'll happily
believe any nonsense you dish out.
I wonder how many Americans could actually point to Iraq or Afghanistan on
a globe of the world, or Vietnam or Korea for that matter where thousands
of their countrymen also died in futile wars. How many know the difference
between Sunni and Shiite Muslims and why they hate each other so much?
(Primarily their dispute as to who was the true successor to Mohammed).
How many understand that all the terrorists who crashed the planes on 9/11
were Saudi Arabians and therefore Sunni muslims whereas Iraq is primarily
a Shia muslim country and would never have supported Al Qaeda until George
Bush's illegal invasion created a legion of insurgents and suicide bombers
who now hate the west even more than other muslims? Not many in any of
those categories I wager.
Lack of education and global awareness combined with religious
fundamentalism are the two most dangerous factors in American society that
make it possible for the batshit crazy like Perry and Cain to think they
have a chance of getting voted into the White House. Personally I think
that the 50% of the American people who are not that stupid will ensure
that Obama gets a second term but as always it'll be close because most of
the sheeples will vote the way they always vote regardless of the
candidate. The Republicans could run a blow up doll for election and
provided its puppeteer repeated the correct mantras often enough (Abortion
is bad m'kay, homosexuality is evil m'kay) they'd still vote for it rather
than for any Democrat with all their fancy book lernin' that they hate so
much.
If you wanted any more proof of how stupid the GOP candidates are Rick Perry
has just addressed students at a New Hampshire college and asked those who
are 21 or older to vote for him on November 12th 2012. Well the voting age
in the USA is 18 not 21 and the election day is November 6th not the 12th.

It pretty much beggars belief that a presidential candidate doesn't even
know the voting age in his own country or the date of the actual election.
The voting day is always the Tuesday after the first Monday in November
which can't be later than the 8th or earlier than the 2nd.
