Because giving a two year-old Sominex (or other assorted sleeping aids) is
called child abuse, and they're always at it at that age! 24/7.
I'm sure that when I was a mouthy little crapper and teething back in 1960, my
mother fed me "gripe water" to shut me up. And it probably did, because back
in 1960 it was mostly liquor. I lived the AMC TV series "Mad Men" as a two
year old! Everybody smoked and babies were fed booze!
