I had someone tell me he doesn't like to be defined by what he buys,
so won't buy apple.. He couldn't grasp how stupid a thing to say that
was.

Apple are hardly a yuppie product, almost every chav and chavette has
an ipod of some description, they're very cheap nowadays.

They do get some stick from the "I want to be different" crowd who
pile into newsgroups and brag about how they won't buy their products
though.

Surely the best thing to do is to buy something reliable which will do
exactly what you want it to do, at the lowest price possible?

In my own case I wanted a player which will hold my audio books, some
music, and which I can listen to either through headphones, play
through external speakers, or plug into my car stereo.

No way would I buy an iPod for that. My own ATMT Storm 20Gb player cost
me around £25 and does everything I need it to do. It runs for around
13 hours on a full charge, charges through the usb port on my pc or
through an adaptor for the mains or through my car cigar lighter
socket. It shows the date and time, has replay and shuffle facilities,
and will also store data if I wanted to use it for that. It will sync
with WMP if I'm ever daft enough to want to do that.

'Nuff said.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.
