Well if I am blame can hardly be left at my door. I asked everyone to
expand on their claims but no-one has been able to suggest a good
reason or a past example that comes anywhere close.

Since I'm in disagreement with all the Aussies today, I'm declaring a

One day I might add "Aussies" to this spell checker. For now I'm quite
happy to let it continue to suggest "Pussies" as the correct spelling.
