Pure bull***. Immigration Act of 1924 practically closed free
immigration.

The USA has stringent immigration rules, Canada allows twice as many per
capita and is way above the average for G8 countries.

Both countries have a tough system, but there is a forgiveness when it comes
to those immigrating to both countries from "destitute" nations.

Most of my friends in Canada hold British citizenship because they (or their
parents) were born in the UK, so they can work in both nations. But it's
really tough to get a work visa in the USA if you're from a "developed
country" like Canada. It's easier if you're from an undeveloped country.

Our recent census from 2006 was in the news and says that there are more
"south Asians" (India) as visible minorities than Chinese now.

Save for a few fringe and bigoted blow hards, most here are comfortable with
"new people". Immigrant growth is why our government pension plan is
working, while there appears to be an issue in the USA about theirs.

Of a country of 33 Million, I think we accept over 350,000 immigrants per
year.
