Maybe McLaren can show them how they improved on their design.

It's unrealistic to think that Ferrari invented everything because it's well
known how teams spy on each other anyway.

Today's imaging technology allows for a great deal of "openness". So to speak.

Even decades ago, the Soviets had their "Buran" space shuttle (a better idea
too) and the Tupolev TU-144 version of the Concorde.

Good point. The physics of a given problem tends to limit the
number of workable solution to that problem. Of course, having a
working example (Shuttle -> Buran) or an extremely effective
espionage network (Concorde -> Concordski: Soviet penetration of
the French manufacturer, IIRC) greatly simplifies the
engineering.

It also frees the design team to exceed the original design, and
the Soviets did with Buran. Shuttle is manned fly-by-wire (FBW),
while Buran was _unmanned_ FBW. Buran's re-entry on autopilot
alone was Seriously Impressive.
