When did winning at anything, but especially FI, become a piece of

You are quoting me out of context. The point I was making is that
we want to get rid of unfair equipment advantage a single driver
has for the *whole* season... But still, I give him a 7 race leeway!

What's your take on Schumi's run in 2004 season? Doesn't it fit
"piece of cake" comment? Please remember, all my comments
are directed at the drivers and not the team + package.

It's only a piece of cake in hindsight, not while it's happening. No
team dominates forever, and I don't see a problem with it, when it
occasionally happens. Ferrari's recent domination of the sport seems
like it lasted a long time, but the time they spent wandering in the
wilderness preceding it was far longer. It's actually a thing of
beauty when a team really gets it's act together.

Good teams make winning LOOK easy, it's not.

You have completely missed my point.

Nonsense.

Thank you :)

Do you really think there's some universally great setup
that will work for any good driver? I used to prep and tune, on the
club level, TZ250 Yamaha motorcycles. One year I was doing bikes for
two riders, both capable of winning on any particular day and with
virtually identical machines, nearly every adjustable parameter was
different. carburetor jetting, gearing, tire pressures, suspension
settings, you name it, and their lap times were very close.

There are 2 things, one is the car design and the other being the
car setup. Design is a constantly evolving process which I beleive is
done in iterations through out the season. While setup happens for
each race;

What you are talking about is the setup and what I am talking about
is the design.

A proper setup isn't arrived at in one go, it takes time and lots of
work and it's a season long process.. You're right about what you said
about design, but it evolves along the lines of what the driver is
capable of and comfortable with. Design changes require setup changes
and are greatly dependent on each other. If you've ever listened to a
crew chief and driver talk, that have established a good rapport, it
can be a very strange conversation to listen to, almost a different
language. This can't be established overnight. To start over each week
would very difficult to deal with. As I said, racing is enough work as
it is.
