We got our first colour TV in
1974.

I think ours was much the same time. I guess prices were reasonable by then.
Five years in to all *three* channels being broadcast in colour (the *three*
is for frank with his 20 channels, spoilt brat).

He took it to a local repair shop - small owner-occupied*, not a chain - and the bloke repaired it for free on the basis that he could dine out for weeks on the TV repairman's circuit with his tales of "You'll never guess what I had in the shop the other day..." ...
