Fact is, we don't know the half of it.

I don't know anything about building 7 so I won't comment. But the twin towers collapsed vertically because of the way they were designed - the structural failures mostly occurring on the inside, and pulling the outside down with them. I watched a documentary on it, that explained carefully what went wrong - and they were making the controversial claim that the fire protection had been inadequate when inspected, and not rectified, which was strongly denied by the owners of the building.
