it seems that "pit stop passing" is the only way to pass opponents
these days. would be nice to see some sort of restriction in the pit
stops
for example having 4 mechanics per a stop. so if they want to change
all four tires, it will take longer than just replacing one tire... -im
not saying this is a solution, its just something needs to be done,
drivers seem to be RELYING on pit stops to pass, and what we see is a
lack of passing on the track.
It is true that were passing in the pits not an option there would be
more pressure on the FIA to make on track passing easier.
But the pitcrew advantage isn't typically the decisive factor: The laps
run between two drivers pitstops allow a faster following car and driver
to use their on track speed to jump the other car.
cost cutting measures, also seem to be stopping drivers from pushing
their car continously for the entire race, its such an anticlimax
toward the end of the race where they back off to preserve the engine
for another race (this ruins fri pratice too, as drivers arent putting
a lot of laps down)
The current engine regulations are appalling. They reduce competitive
running in the practice sessions and have a carry over effect into
subsequent races. Races should be self contained.
A simple alternative would be one engine for practice and another for
qualifying and the race. So two units per weekend - no effect on other
races.
and finally many congradulations to MS, was a little shame that in one
sense it was a hollow victory, as Massa was the "donkey" for the team
(using his share of tires, for ferrari to get data), i didnt think he
would be like RB, but it seems like being brazillian isnt the only
thing they share.
Well that's hardly congratulations then isn't it? It's merely sour grapes
disguised as a garland.
The ITV commentary team certainly have an 'opinion' don't they? Just ever
so subtly tainting the win. I can just see Schu quietly reclining while
his pristine car is polished..
There were 3 practice sessions prior to qualifying. Here are the number
of laps done by each Ferrari:
MS 4 14 12
FM 0 18 10
Do the maths yourself..
