In North America, Audi has a TV ad for the Quattro all wheel
drive. They drive the Audi up a 125 meter jump in Finland. It
is grey snowy and overcast. The car is fitted with snow either
spikes or studs. Freaking scary for whomever drove the car.

Frank, get yer boots on and come to Norway in the winter. The
Holmenkollen jump is a couple of hours from where Cheek Racing
lives, you can take a lift up to the top of the jumping tower and
take in the sights that these young men face as they are about to
throw themselves into the air at 60mph...on two planks. Stunning.

My best friend for 20 plus years is from the old fjord country. His
grandfather came over 100+ years ago. He has a great sense of humor.

Doc - I may take you up on that some day but I want to come see your
team race first or drink all of Paul B's wine at LaSarthe before
heading north. ;-) I would love to hear you and Pete swap stories
about races, cars and drivers that both of you have watched over the
years. The historic Group C series is racing at so many great tracks
it would be hard to choose.

A dozen years ago, I learned the importance of having real snow boots
standing on ice near Kitzbuhl watching the Germans go wild with New
Year's fireworks. The ski jumping youngsters are amazing. I would
love to see their faces and the view at the top of the jump.

The team event on the 125 M hill the other night with a battle between
Finland, Norway and Austria was stunning.

Are you going to make it to Le Mans some time soon?
