Well it was a mistake, no doubt about it. Yet looking at it from a couple of ways, it was one of those racing things that if either of them had been a little different so would the outcome.

First from the angle I got on TV, it looked like for Tag's it was a blind corner. He probably couldn't see around the corner. I do not know if it was or not, but there was time at that point to have a local yellow out. That should have at least warned Tag's that something was going on and to be extra alert. Not his fault at all, but he was out none the less. Had he been able to see, he might have been able to plan for such a move just in case as a part of the normal give and take.

The other thing to consider is the incredible acceleration of these cars. Paul just miss judged how fast he could get up to speed coming out of the run off area. IF he had hit the gas just a little before he did, it might have been a no big deal incident. It was up to him to keep the impact of the mistake to a minimum. The competitor in most of them would have the instinct of trying to beat the other person out, when clearly the best move would have been to wait for traffic. His chance in the points race is just about gone with that.

With all the emotion bottled up in drivers, its a wonder we don't see more fights than we do. Personally a fight in the pits is a much better option than a payback with a race car on track. Yet thats been a part of racing for a very long time in just about every series. In F1 didn't Senna punch Eddie Irvine in the nose after his first race. AJ has so many to pick from its not even funny, the last one happened to be in victory lane in Texas. The Allison Yarbourgh fight may have been the best thing that could have happened to Nascar. Yet it probably will be blown way out of proportion.
